"Mas Anang itu nggak tidur, jadi mungkin dia melihat ini ngerem nya nggak bakalan nyampe nih dan pasti nabrak. Pas kecelakaan itu, jadi dia tiba-tiba langsung meluk aku gitu supaya aku nggak jatuh dan nabrak serta kena benturan. Tapi setelah itu dia yang jatuh, kena benturan dan kakinya kejepit. Dan di situ aku melihat bahwa dia benar-benar melindungi perempuan, kalau laki-laki kan lebih kuat," sambung Ashanty yang saat itu didampingi Anang.

Anang sendiri saat ini dalam kondisi baik-baik saja. Bahkan, keduanya masih menerima job untuk pembukaan sebuah apartemen di Bandung. Dia mengaku kalau hanya kakinya saja yang mengalami luka-luka lebam.

"Lukanya hanya kakinya yang agak lebam, soalnya memang sudah dipijit dua kali, kalau nggak dipijit mungkin lebih parah," ujar Anang.

"Tapi setelah dipijit Mas Anang bisa nyanyi 9 lagu dan joget-joget, tapi setelah itu sakit lagi. Jadi mungkin hari ini harus diperiksa karena Mas Anang besok berangkat menjadi juri Idol di Medan," tambah Ashanty.

Lebaran tahun ini dirasakan berbeda bagi istri Gugun Gondrong, Anna Marissa. Pasalnya, perayaan kali ini ia malah 'minggat'. Anna memutuskan untuk pindah dari rumah sang suami ke rumahnya sendiri di Kelapa Gading. Kepindahan itu bukan karena apa-apa, melainkan Anna tidak mau merepotkan ibu mertuanya.

"Karena kehamilan aku kan sudah hampir waktunya, Insya Allah bulan Oktober. Kalau di rumah Mas Gugun kan mamanya sibuk, kalau di rumah Anna, ada Mami Anna yang ngurus karena nggak terlalu sibuk," ungkap Anna Marissa di kediaman Gugun Gondrong di kawasan Mampang Prapatan, Jakarta Selatan, belum lama ini.

Rencana pindah rumah itu bakal berlangsung cukup lama. Menurutnya, ia dan Gugun tak lagi tinggal bersama orang tua Gugun sampai anak mereka berusia 4 bulanan. "Kan si kecil sudah lumayan besar, baru balik lagi ke rumah Mas Gugun," ujarnya.

Disinggung soal tradisi sungkeman, Anna mengaku terpaksa tidak melakukannya sesuai kebiasaan. Ia juga tidak mudik karena sang ayah belum lama meninggal dan selamatan 40 harinya jatuh tepat di hari Lebaran.

"Biasanya di keluarganya Mas Gugun gitu (sungkeman), cuma tahun ini kan di rumah Anna. Kalau di rumah Anna Lebaran pertama cuma ngumpul aja. Di keluarga Anna dan keluarga Mami ngumpulnya di rumah Anna, karena yang tinggal di Jakarta cuma Mami. Selain itu sekalian selamatan 40 hari Papi," tuturnya.

Anna juga tak bisa menutupi kegembiraannya bisa berlebaran dengan sang suami. Apalagi mengingat tahun lalu ia terpaksa merayakan Idul Fitri di Singapura untuk merawat Gugun. "Senang banget, karena tahun lalu Mas Gugun masih di ICU baru di operasi. Tapi tahun ini Alhamdulillah kondisi Mas Gugun sudah sehat, ada kemajuan, jadi kita bisa ngerayain Lebaran sama keluarga besar," ujarnya.

Lalu, apa makanan Lebaran favorit Gugun? "Dia sih sukanya sop daging sama ketupat. Karena Anna nggak bisa masak, paling ngerepotin Mami Anna lagi," katanya sambil tersipu.

"Dulu sempat waktu Mas Gugun masih sakit kita omongin, 'Kalau punya anak namanya siapa ya?' Aku bilang Nikola keren juga. Mas Gugun bilang Bambang, ada juga yang bilang Cuervo. Pokoknya banyak, tapi sampai sekarang belum tahu mau pakai yang mana?" ujar Anna.

Ditemui di kediaman Gugun, di kawasan Mampang Prapatan, Jakarta Selatan, belum lama berselang, Anna juga mengungkapkan jika dirinya kepingin jadi ibu seutuhnya dengan melahirkan secara normal.

"Kan katanya kalau melahirkan secara normal baru bisa dibilang ibu, karena perjuangannya antara hidup dan mati. Tapi memang sejauh ini setiap periksa ke dokter kondisinya baik, sehat, posisinya sudah siap," kata Anna.

Dan rencananya, wanita yang lebih muda 16 tahun dari Gugun ini akan bersalin tidak jauh dari rumahnya, yakni di rumah sakit Kelapa Gading. "Biar dekat," ujarnya singkat.

Dhani Ahmad Prasetyo (lahir di Surabaya, Jawa Timur, 26 Mei 1972; umur 37 tahun) atau yang lebih dikenal dengan Ahmad Dhani / Dhani Manaf adalah seorang musisi, penulis lagu, penata musik, dan produser Indonesia. Dhani merupakan leader dari grup band papan atas, Dewa 19 dan juga personel grup band The Rock. Dhani juga merupakan pemilik dan pimpinan dari Republik Cinta Management. Dhani telah mencetak banyak hits dan mengorbitkan sejumlah artis melalui karyanya.
Dewa 19

Bakat musik Dhani mulai bergejolak saat duduk di bangku SMPN 6 Surabaya. Dhani bersama 3 orang sahabatnya Andra Junaidi, Erwin Prasetya, dan Wawan Juniarso, kemudian mendirikan grup band DEWA pada tahun 1986. Dhani bertindak pada vokal dan keyboard. Saking tergilanya pada musik, tak jarang Dhani bolos sekolah untuk sekedar berkumpul bersama teman-temannya di DEWA untuk sekedar memainkan alat musik di rumah Wawan di kawasan komplek Universitas Airlangga. Dhani semula yang menteng di jalur rock, kemudian mencoba jalur musik jazz yang kemudian diikuti perubahan nama Dewa menjadi Downbeat. Bersama Downbeat, Dhani sempat menjuarai Festival Jazz Remaja se-Jawa Timur, juara I Festival band SLTA '90 atau juara II Djarum Super Fiesta Musik. Namun akhirnya Dhani kembali ke jalur rock dan mengibarkan bendera DEWA 19 dengan tambahan Ari Lasso.

Karena tidak ada studio yang memadai di Surabaya, pada tahun 1991 Ahmad Dhani hijrah ke Jakarta untuk mencari perusahaan rekaman yang akan melabeli Dewa 19. Dengan modal seadanya, Dhani menginjak rimba ibukota, gentayangan dari satu perusahaan rekaman ke perusahaan rekaman lain menggunakan bus kota. Setelah sempat ditolak sejumlah label, akhirnya dhani dilirik oleh Jan Djuhana dari Team Records. Usaha Dhani tidak sia-sia, album perdana Dewa 19 (1992) sukses besar dengan melejitnya sejumlah hits seperti ”Kangen” dan ”Kita Tidak Sedang Bercinta Lagi”. Album ini tercatat sebagai album terlaris 1993 dan Dewa dianugerahi sebagai pendatang baru terbaik. Sukses Dewa 19 berlanjut di album-album berikutnya. Hingga saat ini tak kurang dari sebelas album yang telah dirilis Dhani bersama Dewa, yaitu Dewa 19 (1992), Format Masa Depan (1994), Terbaik Terbaik (1995), Pandawa Lima (1997), The Best Of Dewa 19 (1999), Bintang Lima (2000), Cintailah Cinta (2002), Atas Nama Cinta I & II (2004), Laskar Cinta (2004), Republik Cinta (2006), dan Kerajaan Cinta (2007). Meski telah beberapa kali mengalami pergantian personel, sampai saat ini Dewa 19 masih tetap eksis di blantika musik Indonesia.
Karir Lain

Selain aktif di Dewa 19, Dhani juga sibuk dengan kegiatan lain. Pada tahun 1999, ia sempat melahirkan Ahmad Band, yang sempat dikenal dengan tembang ”Kuldesak” dan ”Aku Cinta Kau Dan Dia”. Selain itu Dhani juga menjadi memproduseri artis lain selain Dewa 19. Sejak kesuksesan Dhani melambungkan nama Reza Artamevia di tahun 1997, ia mulai sering memproduseri artis lain, dan melahirkan bakat-bakat baru dalam dunia musik.
The Rock

Bermula dari perekaman album solonya di Australia, Dhani bertemu dengan 3 anggota band Hospital The Musical, yaitu Clancy Alexander Tucker, Zachary Haidee-Keene, Michael Bennett di Studio 301, Sydney - Australia. Dari pertemuan itu munculah ide untuk berkolaborasi dalam sebuah grup musik. Dhani yang memiliki niat untuk go international menerima ajakan tersebut dan terbentuklah The Rock yang mana Hospital The Musical tidak bubar dan Dhani juga tidak meninggalkan Dewa 19. Pada Agustus 2007, lahirlah album pertama The Rock dengan tajuk Master Mister Ahmad Dhani I yang mencetak single ”Munajat Cinta”.

Hospital The Musical pernah mengikuti tour Marlboro Kretek di Indonesia, pada bulan Agustus-September 2007. Saat itu mereka menggunakan nama Fire Shark, bersama vokalis Mark Williams

Kiki Amalia (lahir di Jakarta, 26 November 1981; umur 27 tahun) adalah model dan pemain sinetron serta film Indonesia . Kiki mengawali karier di dunia model dari pemilihan Cover Girl Majalah Aneka di tahun 1995. Kiki bahkan pernah berpose untuk majalah FHM. Sebelum terjun ke dunia sinetron, pemenang Wajah Femina tahun 2000 ini pernah membintangi berbagai iklan televisi. Beberapa sinetron yang pernah dibintangi Kiki antara lain Legenda Misteri, Wewe Gombel, Bule Betawi, Jodoh Apa Bodoh, Anak Ajaib, serta sinetron religius Islami Hidayah dan Rahasia Ilahi. Lulusan D3 Business Management London School ini juga pernah membintangi film Rantai Bumi.[1]

Selain berakting, Kiki yang berzodiak sagitarius ini mulai merambah dunia presenter. Mantan kekasih aktor Hengky Kurniawan kini menjadi presenter acara kontes dangdut di TPI berjudul, Hajatan Dangdut Mania.

Andriani Marshanda yang akrab dipanggil "Caca" maupun "Chacha" ini (lahir di Jakarta, 10 Agustus 1989; umur 19 tahun) adalah seorang artis muda bintang sinetron, bintang iklan, penyanyi dan juga pembawa acara.

Anak sulung dari tiga bersaudara pasangan Irwan Yusuf dan Riyanti Sofyan (sekaligus menjadi manajer Marshanda sekarang) ini lahir di Jakarta, Indonesia, 10 Agustus 1989 dengan zodiak Leo. Dua saudaranya adalah Aldrian (Didi) dan Allysa (Lisya). Ketika berumur 3-4 tahun dia pernah tinggal di Kota Lumpia, Semarang, di Jalan Pleburan V dekat kampus Undip. Waktu itu ayahnya bekerja sekitar dua tahun di Semarang. Dia bershio Ular.

Marshanda yang beragama Islam ini memulai karirnya di dunia iklan sejak kelas 1 SD secara tidak sengaja atau kebetulan, di mana saat itu Marshanda menemani tantenya yang model terkenal, Chintya Rustam, mantan model iklan sabun Lux ke ke biro iklan Citra Lintas. Ternyata sesampai di sana, Marshanda diminta untuk diikutkan casting. Hingga akhirnya casting pada tahun 1997 itu Marshanda terpilih untuk membintangi iklan Bank Danamon. Selanjutnya Marshanda membintangi sejumlah iklan televisi maupun media cetak, di antaranya Filma, Cadbury Eclairs, Supermi Ayam Bawang, Es Mony, Tango Wafer, Chicken Nuggets, Carvil Millenium, Susu Bendera, Belia, Emeron, Bank Tamara Dan Vaseline.

Marshanda yang mengidolakan Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears dan M2M sudah sejak kecil gemar menyanyi di samping ikut latihan olah vokal di Paranadjaja dan kursus balet. Namun demikian dia masih belum percaya diri dengan kemampuannya menyanyi, sehingga dia terkadang masih malu untuk bernyanyi di depan orang banyak.

Cita-cita Marshanda adalah menjadi seorang insinyur pertanian dan penyanyi dan terakhir ingin juga menjadi seorang psikolog. Keinginan Marshanda untuk menjadi penyanyi mendapat kesempatan saat bertemu dengan seorang pencipta lagu anak-anak terkenal Papa T Bob. Awal pertemuan Mashanda dengan Papa T Bob juga terjadi secara tidak sengaja. Waktu itu Marshanda sering mereka merekam suaranya ketika sedang bernyanyi, ibunya yang mendengar merasa suara Marshanda bagus dan mencoba mengirimnya ke agensi Marshanda. Entah bagaimana, namun Papa T Bob tahu dan tertarik. Selanjutnya Papa T Bob langsung membuatkan dua buah lagu untuknya. Papa T Bob menyiapkan lagu khusus yang pas dengan karakter suara Marshanda. Akhirnya Marshanda masuk dapur rekaman dengan menjagokan lagu "Gantungkan Cita Cita" ciptaan Papa T Bob.Dulu Umur 10 Tahun Bersama Iklan Televisi Susu Bendera Bersama Budenya Chintya Kusuma, Mantan Model Cover Women Anita 1991 ke Biro Iklan Puri Emeron.

Arti nama

Nama Marshanda jarang digunakan sebagai nama. Terdapat hanya sedikit orang yang memakai nama ini. Jika ditelusuri, mungkin, nama ini berasal dari kata Marsha (Latin) yang merupakan bentuk lain dari nama Marcia yang identik dengan nama jenis kelamin wanita yang mempunyai arti 'berani'. Jika disimpulkan secara keseluruhan, mungkin, Marshanda bisa berarti 'anak yang beran

Bidadari

Karir selanjutnya Marshanda terjun di dunia sinetron. Pernah tampil di sinetron Jinny Oh Jinny, namun yang benar-benar mengangkat namanya dan membuat karirnya naik adalah sinetron Bidadari sebagai tokoh "Lala". Sinetron sepanjang 156 episode produksi Multivision Plus ini dibintangi juga antara lain oleh Ayu Azhari, Marcelino Lefrandt, Moudy Wilhelmina , Cecep Reza dan Chintya Kusuma.

Bidadari 2

Setelah sukses Bidadari, kembali Marshanda membintangi Bidadari 2 sepanjang 104 episode, namun hanya 98 episode yang melibatkan dirinya dalam serial tersebut dikarenakan pihak Multivision menggantikan perannya dengan orang lain dan sekaligus menjadi awal dari permasalahan antara pihak Marshanda dan Multivision Plus. Lagu tema yang sama yaitu "Bidadari" dalam kedua sinetron tersebut dinyanyikan oleh Marshanda sendiri.

Keluargaku Mata Hatiku

Marshanda selanjutnya tampil dalam variety show berbentuk drama musikal Rumahku, Bidadariku (berubah judul menjadi Kelurgaku Mata Hatiku produksi in-house Trans TV) produksi Multivision Plus mulai 21 februari 2003 setiap hari jumat 19.00 wib di Trans TV

Kisah Sedih di Hari Minggu

Kemudian Marshanda yang kemudian bernaung dibawah rumah produksi SinemArt pimpinan Leo Sutanto bermain dalam sinetron Kisah Sedih di Hari Minggu sebanyak 26 episode memerankan tokoh yang bernama "Imel". Juga tampil di dalamnya antara lain Meriam Bellina, Mathias Muchus, Ira Wibowo, Adi Bing Slamet, dan bintang muda seperti Gading Marten, Jennifer Arnelita, Cha Cha Frederica. serta Egi John Forsythe. Skenario ditulis oleh Dani Zuko, sutradara Noto Bagaskoro. Selain berperan sebagai tokoh utama, Marshanda juga menyanyikan lagu temanya yang berjudul sama dengan sinetronnya, yaitu "Kisah Sedih di Hari Minggu" yang dipopulerkan Koes Plus di era 60-an. Ditayangkan di RCTI setiap hari Kamis mulai tanggal 15 Januari 2004 pukul 20.00 WIB.

Kisah Kasih di Sekolah

Setelah sukses dengan Kisah Sedih di Hari Minggu, kembali Marshanda tampil dalam sinetron selanjutnya berjudul Kisah Kasih di Sekolah yang juga masih produksi SinemArt. Dalam sinetron ini Marshanda berperan sebagai Kasih, disutradarai oleh Ungke Kaumbur. Sama seperti sinetron sebelumnya, lagu temanya yang berjudul sama karya Obbie Mesakh, dan kembali dipopulerkan penyanyi legendaris Chrisye ini juga dinyanyikan oleh Marshanda sendiri. Ditayangkan di SCTV setiap hari Selasa mulai tanggal 3 Februari 2004 pukul 19.30 WIB. Namun sejak April 2004 berpindah ke jam 20.00 WIB.

Kisah Kasih di Sekolah 2

Sukses di Kisah Kasih di Sekolah, Marshanda kembali bermain dalam sinetron Kisah Kasih di Sekolah 2 yang masih produksi SinemArt yang merupakan kelanjutan dari seri pertamanya. Terdengar kabar bahwa Kisah Kasih di Sekolah akan dibuat versi film layar lebarnya tapi batal dibuat. Sinetron ini belakangan pindah jam tayang ke hari Jumat jam 20.00 WIB.

Adam dan Hawa

Kemudian dengan perusahaan yang sama pula yaitu SinemArt, Marshanda bermain serial sinetron dalam rangka bulan Ramadhan yang ditayangkan SCTV berjudul Adam dan Hawa. Dalam sinetron ini dia berperan sebagai "Hawa" sedangkan lawan mainnya yaitu Sahrul Gunawan berperan sebagai "Adam". Sinetron ini juga dibintangi oleh Intan Nuraini, Rionaldo Stockhorst, Tetty Liz Indriati Intan Ayu Purnama ,Cyntia Kusuma dan Ratu Felisha. Peluncuran sinetron Adam dan Hawa ini berlangsung di restoran Planet Hollywood, Setiabudi, 7 September 2004. Ditayangkan oleh SCTV mulai 13 September 2004 setiap pukul 18.00 WIB.

Manis dan Sayang

Marshanda kembali memerankan karakter remaja lewat sinetron barunya Manis dan Sayang. Kali ini Marshanda dipasangan dengan Roger Danuarta. Sinetron ini masih produksi SinemArt. Dalam sinetron ini Marshanda berperan sebagai "Marsha" sedangkan Roger Danuarta berperan sebagai "Gio", juga didukung oleh Lydia Kandou, Nana Mirdad. Disutradarai Indrayanto Kurniawan. Ditayangkan di SCTV Mulai 25 Februari 2005 pukul 19.00 WIB.

Hikmah 2

Sukses di Manis Dan Sayang, Marshanda Kembali Bermain Dalam Sinetron Hikmah 2 yang Masih Produksi MD Entertainment Yang Merupakan Kelanjutnya Dari Seri Pertamanya. Dalam Sinetron Ini Marshanda berperan sebagai Komala sedangkan Tamara Bleszynski berperan sebagai Liana, juga didukung oleh Dwi Andhika, Revalina S. Temat, Teuku Ryan. Disutradari Encep Masduki. Putri Yang Terbuang

Setelah sukses dengan manis dan sayang, marshanda kembali dalam Putri Yang Terbuang. Kali ini Marshanda dipasangkan dengan Rionaldo Stockhorst. Kali ini marshanda dibuang oleh orangtuanya dan menjadi anak angkat orang miskin. Sinetron ini ditayangkan RCTI mulai Mei 2006.

Setelah sukses dengan sinetron Putri Yang Terbuang, Marshanda kembali muncul dalam sinetron yang berjudul Soleha, dimana ia adalah seorang yang soleh dan kuat. Marshanda berpasangan dengan Baim Wong dan Rionaldo Stockhorst untuk yang kedua kalinya. Sinetron ini ditayangkan RCTI mulai Juli 2007. Kasus Pihak Antara Marshanda Dan Sinemart.

Aqso dan Madina

Marshanda kembali muncul dalam sinetron produksi Sinemart yang berjudul Aqso dan Madina. Kali ini, Marshanda dipasangkan dengan Dude Harlino dan kini, Marshanda berperan sebagai Madina, gadis yang baik, sopan, teguh, taat kepada agama dan menolong orang lain. Ketika Marshanda lagi syuting, Marshanda memakai jilbab di dalam sinetron ini. Sinetron ini ditayangkan di RCTI mulai September 2008.

Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris

Marshanda juga ikut terlibat dalam penggarapan VCD yang berisikan tayangan seputar pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. VCD yang diberi judul Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris tersebut diterbitkan oleh Kesaint Blanc yang dikenal sebagai penerbit buku-buku bahasa berbahasa Inggris. Seluruh cerita dalam dua seri VCD ini ditulis oleh Zainal dan Anjar Hang dan disutradarai oleh Toto Hoedi, yang sudah berpengalaman menggarap cerita kehidupan remaja. Sedangkan produsernya adalah Anton Bangun dan Hendry Bangun. Peluncuran film Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris dalam format VCD untuk Sekolah Lanjutan Tingkat Pertama dan Sekolah Lanjutan Tingkat Atas ini sekaligus menandai 25 tahun kiprah Kesaint Blanc dalam menyediakan pelajaran bahasa asing.

Petualangan 100 Jam

Pada 2005, Marshanda telah menyelesaikan sebuah film layar lebar. Film yang bertajuk Petualangan 100 Jam ini diproduksi oleh MultiVision Plus Picture. Cerita dan skenarionya ditulis oleh Jujur Prananto. Film ini mengambil lokasi syuting di daerah Sawangan, Muntilan (Magelang), Selo (Boyolali), Bromo, Yogyakarta, Bogor, dan Jakarta. Penyutradaraannya dipercayakan pada Winaldha E. Melalotoa. Sementara masalah yang menimpa Marshanda dan Raam Punjabi yang juga pemilik MultiVision Plus Picture, bukan berarti selesai. Kerena film ini memang dibuat jauh sebelum permasalahan tersebut muncul ke permukaan. Saat Marshanda masih menjadi anak emas Multivision Plus saat itu. Dalam film ini Marshanda berperan sebagai seorang anak perempuan cantik bernama "Rini" yang kemudian bersahabat dengan "Budiman" yang diperankan Joshua. Pertemuan keduanya terjadi ketika Budiman dikejar-kejar penjahat hingga lari dari kampungnya ke Jakarta. Saat mencari alamat sang paman yang pernah bekerja di rumah orangtua Rini, Budiman pun memperhatikan si gadis. Film ini juga didukung oleh Cecep Reza, Mathias Muchus, Ayu Diah Pasha.

Allah yang Kucintai

Tahun 2002, Marshanda ikut tampil dalam album religi berjudul Allah Yang Kucintai. Bersama dua penyanyi muda lainnya yaitu Siti Novita Rizki dan Atras terbentuklah Trio Sakha. Produser album ini adalah artis sinetron Inneke Koesherawati. Gaya musik dalam album ini adalah R&B dan Hip Hop meskipun liriknya kental bernuansa Islam. Dalam album kedua dari trio Sakha, Marshanda tidak ikut serta, dikarenakan kesibukannya syuting sinetron.

Merupakan album yang dibuat sehubungan dengan sinetron Marshanda yang berjudul Bidadari. Marshanda

Album solo dari Marshanda yang bertajuk Marshanda dirilis pada awal tahun 2005. Bergerak di jalur pop dan R&B, namun lebih variatif. Temanya kebanyakan soal percintaan di kalangan remaja. Dalam albumnya ini Marshanda didukung oleh beberapa musisi Indonesia antara lain Kikan 'Coklat', Thomas 'Gigi', Adam 'Sheila on 7', Dewiq serta penyanyi Bonita. Musisi tersebut merupakan artis-artis yang tergabung dalam Sony Music Indonesia, perusahaan rekaman yang memproduksi album ini. Sekitar 10 lagu disuguhkan Marshanda di album perdananya ini. Satu lagu lama yang menjadi lagu tema sinetron yang tengah dibintangi bersama Roger Danuarta, "Manis dan Sayang" karya Koes plus yang telah diaransemen ulang. Marshanda dalam album ini kabarnya menyiapkan 4 lagu yang liriknya diciptakan sendiri. Keempat lagunya itu dibuat Marshanda berdasarkan pengalaman hidup dan ditulis menurut apa kata hatinya.

Dhea Imut

Dhea Imut yang memiliki nama lengkap Claudia Anissa (lahir di Jakarta, 29 Februari 1996; umur 13 tahun) adalah mantan bintang cilik yang kini beranjak remaja. Dara yang beragama Islam ini lahir di Jakarta ini mengawali karir di dunia hiburan sejak usia 2 tahun. Saat itu Dhea membintangi iklan popok bayi. Setelah itu berbagai tawaran iklan pun membanjiri putri dari pasangan Indra Kusuma dan Masayu Chairani ini.

Nama Imut diperoleh Dhea setelah bergabung dalam Tiga Bocah Imut dan sempat meliris album anak-anak. Debut sinetron Dhea adalah Panji Manusia Millenium. Namanya semakin melejit setelah membintangi sinetron Bidadari 3. Sinetron lain yang telah dibintanginya antara lain, Tangisan Anak Tiri, Kehormatan, Penjaga Hati, Mutiara, Hamba-Hamba Allah dan Pacarku Seorang Pelari.

Kali ini, Dhea Imut akan berganti dengan nama Dhea Anissa.

Dhea yang sempat bermasalah dengan rumah produksinya, SinemArt, di awal Maret 2009 menjadi perbicangan di internet. Beredar sebuah video yang menampilkan sesosok perempuan mirip Dhea sedang melakukan adegan mesum. Bahkan kabarnya, di video ini, Dhea dikatakan beradegan seks dengan produser SinemArt, Leo Sutanto.

Kabar mengagetkan ini membuat ibunda Dhea, Rany, terguncang. Tidak terima dengan perbuatan iseng ini. Akhirnya, Rany melaporkan peristiwa ini kepada pihak yang berwajib. Sementara pihak SinemArt tidak menganggap peristiwa ini sebagai hal yang besar, sehingga tidak terlalu mempermasalahkan hal ini.

Julia Perez, atau sering disingkat Jupe (lahir 15 Juni 1980; umur 29 tahun; terlahir dengan nama Yuli Rachmawati) adalah penyanyi dangdut, model, pemain sinetron dan presenter Indonesia. Ia seringkali berpenampilan dan berfoto seksi dan dijuluki "bom seks".[1][2][3] Ia memulai karirnya di Perancis. Perkenalannya dengan model pria Damien Perez (Yusuf Perez) yang kemudian menjadi suaminya membuka kesempatan awal dirinya tampil sebagai model majalah FHM dan Maxim di Perancis. Dengan penampilannya dalam FHM dan Maxim, Jupe mendapat nominasi 100 wanita terseksi versi majalah FHM dan Maxim.

Namanya mulai dikenal setelah ia memerankan beberapa sinetron dan film layar lebar.[4] Pada bulan April 2008, Julia Perez menyatakan terjun ke dunia dangdut.[5] Ia lalu merilis album perdananya yang berjudul Kamasutra. Dalam album tersebut Jupe juga menyertakan kondom yang diselipkan dalam sampul albumnya.[6] Meski Jupe menyatakan Keluarga Berencana (KB),[7] namun banyak pihak yang menilai tindakannya tersebut adalah bentuk dukungan terhadap seks bebas. Bahkan Menteri Pemberdayaan Perempuan, Meutia Hatta menyatakan bahwa tindakan tersebut bisa diinterpretasikan sebagai dukungan terhadap seks bebas.[8] Akibat dari penampilannya yang seksi serta album Kamasutra yang berbonus kondom, ia banyak dicekal di Indonesia, seperti di Nusa Tenggara Barat, Riau, Palembang, Balikpapan dan Bengkulu.[9]

Karier awal

Julia Perez mengawali karirnya lewat latihan sebagai sekretaris di sebuah perusahaan swasta dan berkesempatan melanjutkan pendidikan di Belanda.[10] Ia lalu berkenalan dengan seorang model pria Perancis, Damien Perez (Yusuf Perez). Perkenalannya dengan Damien membuka kesempatan dirinya tampil sebagai model majalah FHM dan Maxim di Perancis. Dengan penampilannya dalam FHM dan Maxim, Jupe mendapat nominasi 100 wanita terseksi versi majalah FHM dan Maxim.

Karier 2002-sekarang

Pada tahun 2002-2003, Jupe mulai dikenal di Indonesia lewat sinetron Cinta Lokasi, Komedi Nakal, Penjaga Pantai, Lepas Malam, Maafkan Aku, Rahasia Ilahi, Hidayah, Doa, Mimpi Manis, dan Perempuan Teraniaya.

Persatuan Catur Seluruh Indonesia (PERCASI) mengangkat Julia menjadi ikonnya. Hal ini ditandai dengan diluncurkannya turnamen "Julia Perez Rapid Chess Open Tournament" di gedung Piramyd BPG, Senayan, Jakarta, Indonesia pada tanggal 5 Oktober 2006.[11]

Jupe juga telah bermain dalam beberapa film layar lebar, antara lain Susahnya Jadi Perawan, Beranak Dalam Kubur dan The Shaman.[12] Pada film Beranak dalam Kubur, ia berperan sebagai setan.[13]

Pada Agustus 2007, Julia Perez menjadi pembawa acara sepak bola pada pertandingan sepak bola antara Persija dan PSS Sleman di Stadion Lebak Bulus.[14] Ia mengaku menjadi presenter untuk mengobati rasa kangennya dengan suaminya. Menurutnya, banyak pemain sepak bola Indonesia yang ganteng sehingga dapat mengobati rasa kangennya.[14]

Julia Perez mulai terjun ke dunia musik dangdut pada April 2008 dan merilis album perdana yang berjudul Kamasutra yang berbonus kondom. Sebelum merilis album, ia telah menekuni dunia dangdut. Bahkan Julia membekali diri dengan les vokal dan mempunyai goyang andalan yang diberi nama "goyang blender".[15][16] Ia juga berhasil menjadi juara pertama kompetisi musik "Selebriti Mendadak Dangdut" yang diadakan di ANTV.[17]

Kehidupan pribadi

Jupe adalah seorang wanita berketurunan Sunda-Betawi. Ia menikah dengan Damien Perez di Perancis tanggal 7 Oktober 2002. Meski telah menikah lama dengan Damien Perez, keduanya belum dikaruniai anak. Jupe pernah keguguran di tahun 2007.[18] Pada beberapa kesempatan, Jupe menyatakan dirinya menunda "momongan" karena ingin konsentrasi pada karirnya.[19][20][21]

Pernihakannya dengan Damien mulai mendapat cobaan. Di awal tahun 2009, Jupe terlihat dekat dengan seorang pemain sepak bola asal Argentina yang bermain untuk klub Persiba, Gaston Castano. Bahkan Jupe telah berani [22]liburan bersama Gaston di awal bulan Maret 2009. Mereka tampak mesra dan intim[23] ketika berlibur di pantai.

Saat ini, Jupe berniat untuk bercerai dari suaminya, Damien. Namun ternyata keinginan Jupe juga mendapat kendala. Hal ini dikarenakan status pernikahan Jupe hanya terdaftar di Perancis. Sedang di Indonesia sendiri statusnya masih lajang.

Kontroversi

Julia Perez seringkali berpenampilan dan berpose seksi sehingga ia banyak dicekal. Ia dicekal di Bengkulu karena seringkali berpenampilan seksi.[24] Bersama dengan Dewi Persik, Annisa Bahar, Inul Daratista, Uut Permatasari, Trio Macan, Ira Swara dan Nita Thalia, ia dicekal oleh Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) Sumatra Selatan terkait larangan menampilkan artis tersebut dalam Pilkada Sumatra Selatan 2008.[25] Rencana kedatangan Julia Perez dan Melly Zamri ke Pekanbaru untuk memeriahkan hari kemerdekaan Indonesia pada 17 Agustus 2008 gagal karena dicekal oleh MUI Pekanbaru.[26]

Albumnya yang berbonus kondom pun menuai kontroversi dan menyebabkan pencekalan dirinya. Hanya dalam minggu pertama perilisannya, album Jupe telah dicekal di Nusa Tenggara Barat[27] dan Balikpapan.[28] Bahkan ia diusir dari Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak, Surabaya, karena membagi kondom disana.[29] Meskipun ia menyatakan tujuannya adalah untuk mendukung program Keluarga Berencana (KB) dan melawan AIDS, Menteri Pemberdayaan Perempuan Meutia Hatta menyatakan bahwa tindakan tersebut dapat diinterpretasikan sebagai dukungan terhadap seks bebas, apalagi lirik lagu dalam album Kamasutra memperkuat dugaan tersebut.

Video klip Julia Perez dicekal di semua stasiun TV di Indonesia.[30] Video klip itu disutradai oleh Khemod dari rumah produksi Cerahati. Sampai sekarang Julia Perez masih belum mengetahui alasan pencekalan tersebut, padahal video klip itu telah lulus sensor dan bergenre komedi.

Terdapat kabar mengenai operasi pembesaran payudara yang dilakukannya, tetapi Julia Perez membantahnya.[31] Rumor ini beredar karena adanya nama Julia Rahmawati sebagai pasien di sebuah klinik di kawasan Mega Mendung, Bogor, yang disinyalir membuka praktek merekonstruksi payudara.

Foto syur Julia Perez juga menyebar di internet. Saat koleksi foto-foto syur miliknya muncul di koran terbitan ibukota, Julia Perez melaporkan melaporkan hal tersebut ke Yanmas Polda Metro Jaya pada tanggal 6 Maret 2007.[32][33] Namun karena tak mau kasusnya berlarut-larut, Jupe pun mencabut laporannya pada tanggal 21 Maret 2007. Jupe mengatakan hal ini dilakukannya setelah ketiga fotografer tersebut telah meminta maaf pada dirinya yang disertai pertemuan yang berlangsung secara kooperatif dan kondusif. Baginya permasalahan ini sudah dianggap selesai walau terasa berat karena ia adalah korban.

Awal karir

Agnes Monica memulai karirnya di usia 6 tahun sebagai penyanyi cilik. Agnes telah merilis sebanyak 3 buah album anak-anak, yaitu Si Meong, Yess dan Bala-bala. Album-album tersebut sukses melejitkan nama Agnes Monica ke dalam deretan penyanyi anak-anak terpopuler di akhir tahun 1990-an. Selain itu. Agnes juga menjadi presenter di acara anak-anak VAN (Video Anak Anteve), Tralala-Trilili di RCTI dan Diva Romeo di Trans TV. Pada tahun 1999 Agnes mendapat penghargaan Panasonic Awards sebagai presenter anak-anak terfavorit.

Menginjak usia 15 tahun, Agnes mulai terjun ke dunia akting dengan membintangi sinetron Pernikahan Dini. Sinetron ini sukses melambungkan nama Agnes di kancah industri hiburan. Melalui sinetron ini, Agnes berhasil menyabet 4 buah penghargaan, yaitu Drama Terpopuler dan Aktris Terfavorit di ajang Panasonic Awards di tahun 2001 dan 2002. Sukses Pernikahan Dini membuat nama Agnes semakin diperhitungkan.

2003-2004: ..And The Story Goes.....

Setelah sempat menyanyikan soundtrack Pernikahan Dini ("Pernikahan Dini" dan "Seputih Hati"), kemudian juga terlibat kolaborasi dengan Yana Julio dalam singel "Awan dan Ombak", akhirnya Agnes mantap untuk kembali ke bidang awalnya sebagai penyanyi. Agnes merilis album dewasa pertamanya bertajuk ..And The Story Goes..... pada tanggal 8 Oktober 2003. Untuk album ini Agnes menggaet sejumlah musisi handal seperti Ahmad Dhani, Melly Goeslaw, dan lainnya. Pada saat peluncuran album pertamanya ini Agnes juga mulai mempublikasikan niatnya untuk "go internasional".

Dengan album ini Agnes berhasil membawa 3 piala AMI Awards 2004, yaitu sebagai "Artis Pop Solo Wanita Terbaik", "Karya Produksi Dance/Tehno Terbaik" untuk lagu "Bilang Saja", serta "Duo/Group Terbaik" untuk kolaborasi Agnes dengan Ahmad Dhani di lagu "Cinta Mati". Agnes juga berhasil meraih penghargaan Anugerah Planet Muzik 2004, Singapura sebagai "Pendatang Baru Terbaik", serta MTV Indonesia Awards 2004 sebagai "Most Favorite Female". Album pertama Agnes ini telah meraih Double Platinum dengan penjualan lebih dari 300.000 kopi.

Sementara untuk sinetron, Agnes membintangi Cewekku Jutek di tahun 2003 serta Bunga Perawan dan Cantik di tahun 2004. Untuk karir aktingnya, Agnes kembali mendapat penghargaan dari Panasonic Awards 2003 untuk "Aktris Terfavorit" dan SCTV Awards 2004 sebagai "Aktris Ngetop".

2005-2007: Whaddup A'..?!

Pada tanggal 10 Desember 2005, Agnes meluncurkan album keduanya berjudul Whaddup A'..?!. Di album ini selain menggandeng sejumlah musisi Indonesia seperti Dewiq, Melly Goeslaw, Andi Rianto dan lainnya, Agnes juga mengajak penyanyi asal Amerika Serikat, Keith Martin untuk berkolaborasi. Di sini Keith Martin menciptakan 2 buah lagu berbahasa Inggris untuk Agnes dan juga berduet dalam lagu "I'll Light A Candle". Album ini melejitkan beberapa hits singel seperti "Bukan Milikmu Lagi", "Tanpa Kekasihku", "Tak Ada Logika" dan "Cinta Di Ujung Jalan".

Album kedua Agnes ini sukses melahirkan banyak penghargaan sepanjang tahun 2006. Agnes kembali meraih 3 piala dari AMI Awards untuk "Artis Pop Solo Wanita Terbaik", "Produksi R&B Terbaik" untuk lagu "Bukan Milikmu Lagi" serta "Desain Sampul Album Terbaik". Agnes juga mendapatkan SCTV Music Awards untuk "Album Pop Solo Terbaik" serta penghargaan VMI Indonesia untuk "Video Klip Terfavorit" dan "Aktris Terbaik" pada video klip "Tanpa Kekasihku". Agnes juga kembali meraih penghargaan MTV Indonesia Awards 2006 sebagai "Most Favorite Female". Agnes juga mendapat penghargaan dari Persatuan Artis Penyanyi, Pencipta lagu dan Penata Musik Rekaman Indonesia (PAPPRI) sebagai "Artis Fenomenal Generasi Baru Musik Indonesia".

Pada tahun 2007, Agnes ditunjuk oleh DEA (Drugs Enforcement Administration) dan IDEC Far East Region sebagai duta anti narkoba se-Asia.

2008-sekarang: NEZ dan Sacredly Agnezious

Pada tahun 2008, Agnes kembali membintangi sinetron, Jelita di RCTI. Agnes juga menyanyikan soundtrack sinetron ini berjudul "Matahariku". Meski sinetronnya tidak terlalu sukses, namun singel "Matahariku" sukses mengantarkan Agnes untuk ketiga kalinya menjadi "Most Favorite Female" MTV Indonesia Awards 2008. Lagu "Matahariku" juga telah mendapat Platinum dengan angka download ringbacktone yang mencapai 1,5 juta. Pada bulan Sepetember 2008, Agnes meluncurkan single berjudul "Godai Aku Lagi". Lagu ini merupakan lagu pertama ciptaan Agnes dan akan dirilis di album ketiganya, Sacredly Agnezious. Singel "Godai Aku Lagi" dan "Matahariku" dirilis lebih awal dari albumnya dalam CD Single edisi terbatas bertajuk NEZ.

Pada tanggal 16 Maret 2009, singel ketiga Agnes berjudul "Teruskanlah" resmi diputar di seluruh radio di Indonesia. Pada tanggal 1 April 2009, Agnes akhirnya merilis album ketiganya bertajuk Sacredly Agnezious.

Karir Luar Negeri

Pada tahun 2006, Agnes terlibat dalam syuting serial drama Asia berjudul The Hospital di Taiwan, di mana Agnes beradu akting dengan Jerry Yan, salah satu personil F4. Agnes juga ikut dalam syuting serial Romance in The White House, di mana Agnes dalam serial ini bermain hanya beberapa episode saja. Adapun kedua serial ini telah ditayangkan di Indosiar. Dalam versi lokal, bagian opening dan ending diedit sedemikian rupa dengan menyisipkan scene yang melibatkan Agnes. Bagi sebagian fans drama Taiwan, penyuntingan ini dianggap memaksa. Sesuai dengan ambisi Agnes untuk ”go international”, di penghujung tahun 2006 Agnes memutuskan untuk istirahat total dari kegiatan kuliahnya di Universitas Pelita Harapan, Jurusan Hukum. Dalam waktu dekat Agnes berencana untuk pindah ke Amerika Serikat dan memulai debut internasional-nya di negeri itu. Pada tahun 2008 Agnes berhasil menjuarai Asia Song Festival 2008 di Seoul, Korea Selatan.

Asmirandah Zantman (lahir di Jakarta, 5 Oktober 1989; umur 19 tahun) adalah seorang pemain sinteron Indonesia yang memiliki darah Belanda dan beragama Islam. Ayahnya bernama M. Farmidji Zantman dan ibu Sani Suliwati. Ia memulai karier di dunia hiburan tanah air lewat sinetron Kawin Gantung. Selain itu ia mulai dikenal khalayak luas sejak membintangi beberapa sinetron seperti Inikah Rasanya? dan Cinta SMU 2. Setelah itu gadis yang akrab disapa Andah ini diajak ikut bemain di sinetron-sinetron lain. Selain bermain di sinetron, Andah juga sudah membintangi beberapa produk iklan seperti: Gery Cokluut, Gery Saluut, Rexona,dan Suzuki Spin.

Mulan Jameela (lahir di Garut, Jawa Barat, 23 Agustus 1982; umur 26 tahun, nama lahir Raden Terry Tantri Wulansari) adalah seorang penyanyi Indonesia. Sebelumnya ia juga dikenal sebagai Mulan Kwok. Awal popularitasnya dimulai saat menjadi vokalis grup Ratu di awal tahun 2005. Setelah berpisah dari Ratu di tahun 2007, Mulan merilis album solo perdananya Mulan Jameela di tahun 2008.

Ratu

Mulan mengawali karir dari penyanyi café dan pernah tergabung dalam beberapa band seperti Swara Coustic, Bandung All Star dan Dimensi Band. Pada awal tahun 2005, Mulan bergabung bersama Maia Ahmad dalam duo Ratu dan merilis album bertajuk Ratu & Friends. Single pertama berjudul "Teman Tapi Mesra" sukses besar dan seketika melambungkan nama Mulan Kwok menjadi salah satu vokalis papan atas. Sejumlah penghargaan pun berhasil diraih. Album ini terjual lebih dari 400.000 kopi dan mengukuhkan Ratu menjadi grup wanita paling sukses saat itu. Tahun 2006, dirilislah album berjudul No. Satu yang kembali melahirkan hits berjudul "Lelaki Buaya Darat" dan "Dear Diary". Album ini pun sukses terjual hingga 500.000 kopi di minggu pertama perilisannya. Namun kemudian, pada 31 Januari 2007 Mulan mengumumkan hengkangnya dari Ratu akibat masalah transparansi keuangan di tubuh manajemen Ratu.

Karir solo

Pada 28 Mei 2007, Mulan resmi bergabung dengan Republik Cinta Management. Album solo perdana Mulan diluncurkan pada Januari 2008, bertajuk Mulan Jameela. Seperti judul album, Mulan pun tidak lagi memakai nama panggung "Mulan Kwok".[1] Album yang didominasi musik pop rock ini digarap oleh musisi Ahmad Dhani. Album perdana Mulan ini menelurkan sebanyak 4 buah hits, yaitu "Makhluk Tuhan Paling Sexy", "Wonder Woman", "Bukannya Aku Takut" dan "Jatuh Cinta Lagi". Hanya dalam kurun kurang dari 2 bulan, album ini telah meninggalkan angka penjualan 75.000 kopi dan disemati platinum oleh EMI.[2] Di tempat lain, Mulan juga dilirik oleh perusahaan raksasa telekomunikasi Malaysia, Maxis.[3] Dalam beberapa bulan saja, Mulan telah mampu menerobos sejumlah nominasi penghargaan, bahkan ia menjadi satu-satunya solois Indonesia yang dinominasikan pada MTV Asia Awards 2008 di Genting, Malaysia.[4]

Dalam kompilasi The Best Of Republik Cinta Artists Vol. 1, Mulan berkolaborasi dengan grup vokal Dewi Dewi pada single berjudul "Sakit Bukan Main" yang diluncurkan pada Agustus 2008.

Karir Akting

Kiprah Mulan di bidang seni peran dimulai saat membintangi FTV "Primadona Mencari Surga" di tahun 2006, bersama Darius Sinathrya, Indra Birowo dan Aming. Di tahun 2007, Mulan membintangi sebuah sinetron berjudul "Pasangan Heboh" bersama Baim Wong. Beberapa judul FTV pun menyusul Mulan di tahun yang sama. Sementara pada layar lebar, Mulan membintangi sebuah film berjudul "Maaf Saya Menghamili Istri Anda" bersama Ringgo Agus Rahman.[5] Untuk film perdananya, Mulan telah dinominasikan pada MTV Indonesia Movie Awards 2007 dalam kategori Breaktrough Actor/Actress.

Dian Sastrowardoyo

Dian Memulai kariernya di dunia entertainment pada tahun 1996 sebagai juara 1 di ajang GADIS Sampul yang diadakan majalah GADIS. Ia disebut-sebut sebagai ikon kebangkitan film nasional bersama rekannya di film AADC, Nicholas Saputra. Film pertamanya Bintang Jatuh (2000), karya Rudi Sujarwo, diedarkan indie di kampus-kampus dan tidak ditayangkan di bioskop. Di film tersebut Dian beradu akting dengan Marcella Zalianty, Garry Iskak dan Indra Birowo. Film selanjutnya di tahun 2001, Pasir Berbisik menyandingkannya untuk beradu akting dengan Christine Hakim, Slamet Rahardjo dan Didi Petet. Lewat film ini, Dian dianugerahi pemeran wanita terbaik pada Festival Film Internasional Singapura (2002) dan Festival Film Asia di Deauville, Perancis (2002).

Dian juga pernah menjadi pembawa acara kuis Super Miliarder 3 Miliar yang ditayangkan di ANTV. Selain itu ia juga pernah membintangi serial TV yang berjudul Dunia Tanpa Koma di RCTI

Cintanya kepada dunia film Indonesia dibuktikan Dian dengan kontribusinya di film terbarunya, Drupadi. Selain berakting di depan layar, Dian juga bertindak sebagai produser di film ini.

Pembawa obor di ajang Olimpiade 2008 ini kembali disandingkan bersama Nicholas Saputra di sebuah film. Film 3 Doa 3 Cinta merupakan film dengan nuansa religius yang dibesut oleh sutradara Nurman Hakim. Di ajang International Festival of Asian Cinema Vesoul, 3 Doa 3 Cinta berhasil membawa pulang penghargaan Grand Prize of the International Jury.

Data Diri

Dian lahir di Jakarta tanggal 16 Maret 1982 dari pasangan Ariawan Rusdianto Sastrowardoyo dan Dewi Parwati Setyorini. Dikenal sebagai aktris berbakat yang penuh dengan totalitas. Hobinya adalah membaca, nonton dan segala sesuatu yang berkaitan dengan seni. Menganut agama Islam setelah sebelumnya menjadi penganut Katolik. Selain sebagai aktris ia pernah memiliki rubrik sendiri di majalah GADIS yang bernama Kata Dian, di rubrik tersebut ia menyalurkan bakat menulisnya dan berkomunikasi dengan pembaca majalah Gadis. Ia adalah lulusan jurusan filsafat FIB UI yang tak jarang dimintai bantuan sebagai asisten dosen oleh para seniornya.

Dian adalah salah seorang cucu tokoh pergerakan nasional Prof Mr Sunario Sastrowardoyo.

Formation and Early years (middle 1990s)

Having been in separate bands at the school they attended in the early 1990s, the three members founded their new band originally under such lugubrious names as Gothic Plague and Fixed Penalty (Muse have given out confusing and contradictory information regarding the band's previous monikers in various interviews and, consequently, the chronology of these is unclear). In 1996, under the name Rocket Baby Dolls, they took part in a local Battle Of The Bands, playing with such emotion and violence (going as far as to break everything on stage — a trait which has remained to the present day, though perhaps something of a rock ‘n’ roll cliché) that they stood out from the competition and won. It was this identification with the emotion in their musical style and a feeling of being different to the rest of the local music scene in Teignmouth that saw the band choose not to go to university and seriously pursue being a band.
In the spotlight (Muse and Muscle Museum 1998-1999)

The band were influenced predominately at this stage by early 1990s rock music from America, particularly grunge, which was something of a reaction against the Britpop movement which was hugely popular at the time. Following a number of gigs in London and Manchester trying to find a suitable market for their music (a market that was certainly not to be found in their home town), the band, now named Muse, had a significant meeting with Dennis Smith, owner of Sawmills – a recording studio in a converted water mill in Cornwall, S.W. England. This meeting led to their first proper recording in the shape of a self-titled E.P. on Sawmills’ in-house Dangerous label. Their second E.P., entitled Muscle Museum, was a breakthrough for the band, attracting the attention of influential British music journalist Steve Lamacq and the weekly British music publication NME. Subsequent to its release, Denis Smith co-founded the music publishing company Taste Media especially for Muse, with whom the band has stayed until the present day. This was extremely fortunate for the band as it allowed them to preserve the individuality of their sound in the early stages of their career.

Breakthrough (Showbiz 1999-2000)

In spite of the success and acclaim of their second E.P., no English record label would back Muse, Bellamy’s vibrato-laden, often high-pitched vocal and unusual stage-presence almost certainly being sources of reluctance. In fact it was the American label Maverick Records that took a gamble on the band, giving them a number of gigs in the U.S. and eventually signing them by the end of 1998. Upon their return from America, Taste Media arranged deals for Muse with various record labels in Europe and Australia and John Leckie, producer of Radiohead’s highly regarded album The Bends, was brought in to produce the band’s first album Showbiz, considered by some to be heavily influenced by Radiohead. It was an album showcasing the band’s aggressive style and features a number of lyrical references to the hard time they had whilst trying to establish themselves in Teignmouth. The release of this album was followed by Maverick giving Muse prestigious support slots for the Foo Fighters and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in a series of gigs in the United States, playing to crowds of over 20,000 people. 1999 and 2000 saw Muse playing major festivals in Europe and gigs in Japan and Australia, accumulating a considerable fan base in Western Europe (though in Britain this following remained somewhat left-field).

Rising to Superstardom (Origin of Symmetry 2001-2002)

The band settled down to write their second album Origin of Symmetry. This album saw Muse innovating more, exploring their style in ways they were not fully able to on Showbiz, with a heavier, darker rock sound, backed up by Wolstenholme’s large, often overdriven or synthesized bass sound (used to fill the gaps left in the band’s music by there only being three members), use of unorthodox instrumentation such as a church organ and Howard’s expansion of the standard rock drum set, more exploitation of high pitched vocal lines and the introduction of more use of Bellamy’s distinctive piano style, inspired by the works of pianists of the Romanticism such as Sergei Rachmaninoff. Bellamy cites some of his guitar playing influences as Jimi Hendrix and Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine), the latter being particularly evident in the more riff-based songs on Origin of Symmetry and in Bellamy’s extensive use of pitch-shifting effects in his solos. The general eccentricity of Muse’s fundamentally rock style has seen them likened to 1970s glam rock band Queen, Freddie Mercury being a confessed song writing influence of Bellamy’s.

The accomplished nature of this album might have been expected to see Muse make a significant impact on the American music scene, but a stroke of irony saw Maverick cause Origin of Symmetry to never reach American record stores. With reservations to Bellamy’s vocal style (considering it not 'radio-friendly'), they asked Muse to change some of their songs prior to U.S. release. Insulted, the band declined and left Maverick altogether. After the album, Muse released Hullabaloo, a double album featuring a live performance in Paris and a collection of b-sides.

Critical and fan acclaim (Absolution 2003-2004)

In 2003, their latest studio album was released. Entitled Absolution, this recording expressed a continuation of the experimentation in the rock genre displayed in Origin of Symmetry while trying to maintain a sense of the three-piece band that they are and was produced by Rich Costey who, somewhat fittingly given Bellamy’s guitar style, had previously produced Rage Against the Machine. Muse continued to blend their classical influences into their hard rock sound, the overall effect being somewhat Wagnerian in style. The band made reference to there being a through-running theme in the album — the end of the world, and a series of reactions to that situation. This draws mainly from Bellamy’s intrigue in conspiracy theories, theology, science, futurism, computing and the supernatural amongst others. The song 'Ruled By Secrecy', for instance, takes its title from a Jim Marrs novel about the secrets behind the way that major governments are run — many lyrics on this album have political references. Similar themes were explored in Origin of Symmetry: the song 'Space Dementia' is named after a mental disorder identified in some astronauts following prolonged periods of time in space and the opening line of the song gives the name of a type of microprocessor. And in songs such as 'New Born' references are made to a hypothetical future where technology has a detrimental effect on society.

Finally receiving mainstream critical acclaim in Britain and with a new American record deal, Muse shook off Radiohead comparisons for good and undertook their first international stadium tour. It continued for about an year and it saw Muse visiting Australia, USA, Canada and France and meanwhile the band released 5 singles. Unfortunately, a tragedy stroke the band in the middle of the year. The band performed at Glastonbury with Oasis (Matt described the concert as 'The best gig of our lives!'), but the evening after the concert finished, Bill Howard - the father of the drummer Dominic Howard, who came to watch his favourite band perform, died from a heart attack. This put the band on the verge of a possible split, but after few months continuing countenace and emotional support from his bandmates and family, Dominic apparently recovered and decided to stay with the band. Muse continued its successful tour. Their last dates will be in USA and in London - Earls Court festival before Christmas. Beside the tour Muse have also won two MTV Europe awards, including 'Best Alternative Act' and Q-award for 'Best Live Act'.

Next album recordings (2005-2006)

At the fall of the year Matt was interviewed by MTV and said that he wants Muse next album to be more 'upbeat' recording. While Absolution and Origin are characterized with lyrics with dramatic melancholy and apocalyptic feel, on the next album Bellamy is looking to 'draw on things like optimism and hope'. Bellamy explained that this is a desire to expose this music to fans and the strength of bandmembers, which carried them through difficult times, while mentioning and stressing on the unfortunate death of Dominic Howard's father as a main reason for this change. In December of 2004, Matt announced that the songs for the next album were written and were ready for recording. In concerts played in Toronto, Canada and Earl's Court, London two of these new songs were played. However at the current date these songs remain without 'official' titles.

In early 2005, Matt said to NME that despite the lengthy tour the band are keen on starting again. They plan to work again with producer Rich Costey for the new material, but will break up their recording time with another trek of the US as their profile has grown significantly there over the last year. 'What I’d love to do is get a little space in London, like a kind of thing where we can do private gigs to rehearse the songs before we record them.' frontman Matt Bellamy told NME.COM. 'I think that’s a good vibe - getting people on message boards to come, so you get the pressure of a gig.' he explained. 'As soon as you play a song in a gig situation you really work out. It really changes your whole concept.'

At the 2005 Brit Awards, Muse were awarded the 'Best Live Act' award; Fitting for a band which has long been reputed by fans all over the world as one of the best live acts in music today.

Dream Theater

In 1991 he learned that an American progressive metal band called Dream Theater was in the market for a singer, so he sent down a tape and was quickly flown to New York for a full audition. The trial went well, and he was chosen ahead of 200 other hopefuls to fill the full-time vocalist position in that band.[2] Having two Johns (Myung and Petrucci) in the band already, and with another Kevin in the band, LaBrie dropped his first name and adopted his current stage name of James LaBrie.

LaBrie has since had a significant impact on the vocal melodies on each Dream Theater album, but continues to have little input on the instrumentation of Dream Theater's music. To date he has written lyrics for at least one song on seven of the nine albums Dream Theater has released with him in the band, with Images and Words and Black Clouds & Silver Linings containing none of them.

Throughout his career with Dream Theater, he has lent his voice to many other artists' records as well as tribute albums to some influential artists. In 1991, not long after joining Dream Theater (and before ever appearing on a Dream Theater recording), he sang background vocals on the song "Life in Still Water" on Fates Warning's "Parallels" album..[3] He has appeared on many Trent Gardner releases (including Leonardo: The Absolute Man and Explorer's Club), as well as appearing on albums by such artists as Ayreon (The Human Equation, released 2004), Shadow Gallery, Tim Donohue and Frameshift.

LaBrie is also a featured vocalist on Henning Pauly's "Babysteps" project released in 2006, LaBrie plays the role of the arrogant doctor.

With Matt Guillory and Mike Mangini, LaBrie has released three solo albums under various names (Mullmuzzler, James LaBrie's Mullmuzzler, and simply James LaBrie). His latest, Elements of Persuasion, was released in March, 2005. A fourth solo album is widely rumored to be in the works.

Since 2004, LaBrie has been working with the True Symphonic Rockestra project, along with Thomas Dewald, Vladimir Grishko, Dirk Ulrich, Christopher Jesidero, Sandro Martinez, Paul Mayland, Marvin Philippi, and Igor Marin. Their album, "Concerto In True Minor - 3 Rock Tenors" was released on iTunes and for download on Amazon on March 28, 2008 by Brainworx and Marinsound.

On December 29, 1994, while vacationing in Cuba, LaBrie suffered a severe case of food poisoning and while vomiting, ruptured his vocal cords. He saw three throat specialists who all said there was nothing they could do for him and the only thing he could do was rest his voice as much as possible. However, on January 12, 1995, and against doctor's orders, he was on the "Awake" tour in Japan with his voice far from normal.[4] LaBrie has said he didn't feel vocally "normal" until at least 1997. LaBrie has said that this was a very hard time for him as a singer, and depression as a result caused him to consider departing from the band, although his bandmates supported him and told him to stay. After the "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" tour he discovered that his voice was back. He has said that his voice was fully healed by time and training.

musical inspiration comes from many different genres, including such artists as Metallica, Ludwig van Beethoven, Nat King Cole,[5] Queen, Sting, and Muse whose inspiration, according to LaBrie, is shown on Dream Theater's album, Octavarium.

James has said in many older interviews that he is Christian, and actively practices the religion.[5] However, more recent interviews, along with some of his lyrics (including "Undecided" on Elements of Persuasion) imply a more spiritual and deist perspective, separate from any form of organized religion.

Dram Theater

Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Myung, John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy while they attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, before they dropped out to support the band. Though a number of lineup changes followed, the three original members remain today along with James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess.

Dream Theater has become a successful progressive metal band. Although the band has had a few successful hits (notably "Pull Me Under" in the early 1990s, which received extensive MTV rotation), they have mostly stayed underground for their career.

The band is well known for the technical proficiency of its instrumentalists, who have won many awards from music instruction magazines. Dream Theater's members have collaborated with many other notable musicians. Guitarist John Petrucci has been named as the third player on the G3 tour six times, more than any other invited guitarist, following in the footsteps of Eric Johnson and Robert Fripp.

The band's highest selling album is the gold selling Images and Words (1992), which reached #61 on the Billboard 200 charts.[1] Both the 1994 release Awake and their 2002 release Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence also entered the charts at #32 and #46 respectively and received mostly positive reviews. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence also led to Dream Theater becoming the initial band reviewed in the Music Section of Entertainment Weekly during its opening week of release, despite the magazine generally preferring more mainstream music. In 2007, Systematic Chaos entered US Billboard 200 at #19.[1] Dream Theater has sold over two million albums in the U.S.,[2] and over 8 million records worldwide.[3] The band's tenth studio album, Black Clouds & Silver Linings, was released on June 23, 2009. It entered the US Billboard 200 at #6 marking their highest entry.

Formation and early years (1985–1987)

Dream Theater was formed in September 1985 when guitarist John Petrucci and bassist John Myung decided to form a band in their spare time while studying at the Berklee College of Music. The pair came across drummer Mike Portnoy in one of Berklee's rehearsal rooms, where he was asked to join the band. The trio started off by covering Rush and Iron Maiden songs in the rehearsal rooms at Berklee.

Myung, Petrucci, and Portnoy settled on the name Majesty for their newly formed group. According to the The Score So Far… documentary, they were waiting in line for tickets to a Rush concert at the Berklee Performance Center while listening to the band on a boom box. Portnoy commented that the ending of the song "Bastille Day" (from the album Caress of Steel) sounded "majestic." It was then decided that Majesty would be the band's name.[4]

The trio then set out to fill the remaining positions in the group. Petrucci asked his high school band-mate Kevin Moore to play keyboards. After accepting the position, another friend from home, Chris Collins, was recruited as lead vocalist after band members heard him sing a cover of "Queen of the Reich" by Queensrÿche[5] During this time, Portnoy, Petrucci and Myung's hectic schedules forced them to abandon their studies to concentrate on their music, as they did not feel they could learn more in college. Moore also left his college, SUNY Fredonia, to concentrate on the band.
The beginning months of 1986 were filled with various concert dates in and around the New York City area. During this time, the band recorded a collection of demos, titled The Majesty Demos. The initial run of 1,000 sold out within six months, and dubbed copies of the cassette became popular within the progressive metal scene. The Majesty Demos are still available in their original tape format today, despite being released officially on CD through Mike Portnoy's YtseJam Records.

In November 1986, after a few months of writing and performing together, Chris Collins left the band due to creative differences. After a year of trying to find a replacement, Charlie Dominici, who was far older and more experienced than anyone else in the band, successfully auditioned for the group. With the stability that Dominici's appointment brought to Majesty, they began to increase the number of shows played in the New York City area, gaining a considerable amount of exposure.

Shortly after hiring Dominici, a Las Vegas group also named Majesty[6] threatened legal action for intellectual property infringement related to the use of their name, so the band was forced to adopt a new moniker. Various possibilities were proposed and tested, among them Glasser, Magus, and M1, which were all rejected [7] until Portnoy's father suggested the name Dream Theater, the name of a movie house in Monterey, California.

When Dream and Day Unite (1988–1990)

With this stability, Dream Theater concentrated on writing more material while playing more concerts in New York and in neighboring states. This eventually attracted the attention of Mechanic Records, a division of MCA. Dream Theater signed their first record contract with Mechanic on June 23, 1988[7] and set out to record their debut album. The band recorded the album at Kajem Victory Studios in Gladwyne, PA. Recording the basic tracks took about 10 days, and the entire album was completed in about 3 weeks[8].

When Dream and Day Unite was released in 1989 to far less fanfare than the band had anticipated. Mechanic ended up breaking the majority of the financial promises they had made to Dream Theater prior to signing their contract, so the band was restricted to playing around New York City. The promotional tour for the album consisted of just five concerts, all of which were relatively local. Their first show was at Sundance in Bay Shore, New York opening for the classic rock power trio Zebra.[9]

After the fourth show, Dominici was fired because of personal and creative differences. Shortly after, however, the band Marillion asked Dream Theater to open for them at a gig at the Ritz in New York, so Dominici was given the opportunity to perform one last time.[9] It would be another two years before Dream Theater had a replacement vocalist.

[edit] Images and Words and Awake (1991–1994)

Following Dominici's firing, Dream Theater fought successfully to be released from their contract with Mechanic, and set about auditioning singers and writing material for their next album. In their search for a new singer they auditioned over 200 people, among them former Fates Warning front man John Arch; all were turned down. In mid-1990, at a gig in New York, Dream Theater introduced Steve Stone as their new singer. He performed just three songs with the band before he was fired for performing less than adequately.[10] It was five months before Dream Theater played another show, this time all-instrumental (under the name YtseJam). Until mid-1991 the band remained focused in an attempt to hire another singer and writing additional music.[9] It was during this period that they wrote the majority of what would become the 1992's Images and Words.

In late 1991, Kevin James LaBrie, of glam metal band Winter Rose, was flown from Canada to New York for an audition. LaBrie jammed on three songs with the band, and was immediately hired to fill the vocalist position. Once recruited, LaBrie decided to drop his first name to avoid confusion with the other Kevin in the band. For the next few months, the band returned to playing live shows (still mostly around NYC), while working on vocal parts for the music written before acquiring LaBrie. Derek Shulman and ATCO Records (now EastWest), a division of Elektra Records, signed Dream Theater to a seven album contract based on a three song demo (later made available as "The ATCO Demos" through the Dream Theater fan club).

The first album to be recorded under their new record contract was 1992's Images and Words. For promotion, the label released a CD Single and video clip for the song "Another Day," but neither made significant commercial impact. The song "Pull Me Under," however, managed to garner a high level of radio airplay without any organized promotion from the band or their label. In response, ATCO produced a video clip for "Pull Me Under," which saw heavy rotation on MTV. A third video clip was produced for "Take the Time," but it was not nearly as successful as "Pull Me Under."

The success of "Pull Me Under," combined with relentless touring throughout the U.S. and Japan, caused Images and Words to achieve gold record certification in the States and platinum status in Japan. A tour of Europe followed in 1993, which included a show at London's famed Marquee Club. The show was recorded and released as Live at the Marquee, Dream Theater's first official live album. Additionally, a video compilation of their Japanese concerts (mixed in with documentary-style footage of the off-stage portion of the tour) was released as Images and Words: Live in Tokyo.

Avril Lavigne Whibley[10] (born September 27, 1984), better known by her birth name Avril Lavigne (pronounced /ˈævrɨl ləˈviːn/), is a Canadian singer-songwriter, fashion designer, and actress. Lavigne has sold more than 30 million copies of her albums worldwide.[11] She is currently one of the top-selling artists releasing albums in the United States, with over 10.25 million copies certified by the Recording Industry Association of America.[12] She has been dubbed as the 'pop-punk princess' by various sources.

Lavigne broke into the recording industry with her debut album, Let Go, released in 2002. As of 2009, over 16 million copies were sold worldwide, more than 6 million of which were sold in the United States. Her second and third album, Under My Skin and The Best Damn Thing, reached number one on the Global charts. Lavigne has scored five number-one singles worldwide, including "Complicated", "Sk8er Boi", "I'm With You", "My Happy Ending" and "Girlfriend".

Early years

Avril Ramona Lavigne was born to a French-born father, John, and a Franco-Ontarian mother, Judy, in Belleville, Ontario, Canada on September 27, 1984. Her father named her Avril after the month "April" in French.[16] She has an older brother, Matthew, and a younger sister, Michelle.[17] Lavigne's mother was the first to spot young Lavigne's talent. At the age of two, Lavigne began singing church songs along with her mother. The family moved to Napanee, Ontario, when Lavigne was five years old.

In 1998, Lavigne won a competition to sing with fellow Canadian singer Shania Twain on her first major concert tour. She appeared alongside Twain at her concert in Ottawa, appearing on stage to sing "What Made You Say That". She was discovered by her first professional manager, Cliff Fabri, while singing country covers at a Chapters bookstore in Kingston, Ontario.[16] During a performance with the Lennox Community Theatre, Lavigne was spotted by local folk singer Steve Medd, who invited her to contribute vocals on his song, "Touch the Sky", for his 1999 album, Quinte Spirit. She also sang on "Temple of Life" and "Two Rivers" for his follow up 2000 album, My Window to You.
Music career

In November 2000,[a][18] Lavigne was signed by Ken Krongard, an A&R representative to Arista Records, who invited the head of Arista, Antonio "L.A." Reid, to hear her sing at the Manhattan studio of producer Peter Zizzo.[16][19] Signed as a singer, Lavigne was pitched with songs written by others. However, she dismissed them, insisting she wanted to write herself. For a year, Lavigne and Arista had conflicts in musical direction. She collaborated with the production team The Matrix, and the ensuing album is called Let Go.

Let Go (2002–2005

Lavigne released her debut album, Let Go, on June 4, 2002 in the United States, where it reached number two. It peaked at number one in Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. This made Lavigne, at seventeen, the youngest female soloist to have a number-one album in the United Kingdom until that time.[21] By the end of 2002, the album was certified four-time platinum by the RIAA, making her the best-selling female artist of 2002 and Let Go as the top-selling debut of the year.[22] By May 2003, Let Go had accumulated over 1,000,000 sales in Canada, receiving a diamond certification from the Canadian Recording Industry Association.[23] As of 2009, the album has sold over 16 million worldwide.[24] RIAA has certified the album six-time platinum, denoting shipments of over six million

Lavigne's debut single and the album's lead single, "Complicated", went to number one in Australia and number two in the United States. "Complicated" was one of the best-selling Canadian singles of 2002. "Complicated" was also featured on the teen television show, Dawson's Creek [26]. Subsequent singles "Sk8er Boi" and "I'm With You" reached the top ten in the United States.[27] Lavigne was named Best New Artist at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards, won four Juno Awards in 2003 out of six nominations, received a World Music Award for "World's Best-Selling Canadian Singer", and was nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year for "Complicated" and Best New Artist.

Lavigne appeared in the video to "Hundred Million" by the pop-punk band Treble Charger and "Bethamphetamine (Pretty, Pretty)" by the hard rock singer Butch Walker. Lavigne covered Green Day's "Basket Case", which she performed at the Try To Shut Me Up Tour.

Under My Skin (2004–2005)

Lavigne co-wrote "Breakaway" with Matthew Gerard, and was recorded by Kelly Clarkson for the soundtrack to the 2004 film The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.[31] "Breakaway" was later included on Clarkson's second album, Breakaway, and released as the album's lead single. Lavigne has also covered The Goo Goo Dolls' mega-hit "Iris", produced by Eric Book, and performed with the band's lead singer John Rzeznik at the Fashion Rocks concert in 2004.[32] She also recorded the theme song for The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.

Lavigne's second studio album, Under My Skin, was released on May 25, 2004, debuting at number one in several countries, including Australia, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.[34] Lavigne wrote most of the album's tracks with Canadian singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk. Kreviazuk's husband, Our Lady Peace front man Raine Maida, co-produced the album with Butch Walker and Don Gilmore. Lavigne went on a "Live and by Surprise" twenty-one city mall-tour in the U.S. and Canada, starting on March 4, 2004, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to promote Under My Skin. Each performance consisted of a short live acoustic set of songs from the new album. She was accompanied by her guitarist, Evan Taubenfeld.

The album's lead single "Don't Tell Me" went to number one in Argentina and Mexico, the top five in the UK and Canada, and the top ten in Australia and Brazil. "My Happy Ending" went to number one in Mexico and it reached the top ten in the U.S. making it her third-biggest hit there, but third single "Nobody's Home" did not make the top forty in the U.S., and it only went to number one in Mexico and Argentina. The fourth single from the album, "He Wasn't", reached top forty positions in the UK and Australia, and was not released in the U.S.[35] "Fall to Pieces" was released as the final single from the album, but did not do as well as previous singles.

Lavigne won two World Music Awards in 2004 for "World's Best Pop/Rock Artist" and "World's Best-Selling Canadian Artist". She received five Juno Award nominations in 2005, picking up three, including "Fan Choice Award", "Artist of the Year", and "Pop Album of the Year". She won the award for "Favorite Female Singer" at the eighteenth Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.
The Best Damn Thing (2006–2008)

Lavigne represented Canada at the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, performing her song "Who Knows" during the eight minutes of the Vancouver 2010 portion.

Philanthropy

Lavigne has been involved in a number of charitable activities, such as Make Some Noise, Amnesty International, Erase MS, AmericanCPR.org, Camp Will-a-Way, Music Clearing Minefields, U.S. Campaign for Burma, Make-a-Wish Foundation and War Child. She has also appeared in ALDO ads with YouthAIDS to raise money to educate people worldwide about HIV/AIDS. Lavigne took part of the Unite Against Aids concert presented by ALDO in support of Unicef on November 28 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec Canada.[56]

Lavigne worked with Reverb, a non-profit environmental organization, for her 2005 east coast tour.[57] She covered 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door' for War Child's Peace Songs compilation. Lavigne recorded a cover of the John Lennon song "Imagine" as her contribution to the compilation album Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur. Released on June 12, 2007, the album was produced to benefit Amnesty International's campaign to alleviate the crisis in Darfur
Controversy and criticisms

On May 25, 2007, songwriters James Gangwer and Tommy Dunbar sued Lavigne, her co-songwriter Lukasz Gottwald, Almo Music, and RCA Records, claiming that "Girlfriend" contains lyrics plagiarized from their song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend", originally performed by The Rubinoos and released by Beserkley Records in 1978.[72][73] In January 2008, following a confidential settlement, Dunbar and Gangwer said in a statement that they "are satisfied that any similarities between the two songs resulted from Avril and Luke's use of certain common and widely used lyrics". They completely exonerated Lavigne and Luke "from any wrongdoing of any kind in connection with the claims made by us in our lawsuit".[74]

In June 2007, Canadian singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk, with whom Lavigne co-wrote the majority of her second album, Under My Skin, spoke to Performing Songwriter magazine about Lavigne's songwriting ability and ethics. Kreviazuk claimed that the song "Contagious", which appears on The Best Damn Thing, was based on a track she had sent to Lavigne in 2005.[75][76] On July 6, 2007, Lavigne denied both accusations in an open letter on her website, admitting that she had "never heard the [Rubinoos] song in [her] life" and also threatening legal action against Kreviazuk for her allegations, which she considers "damaging" to her reputation and a "clear defamation" of her character.[76][77] On July 10, Kreviazuk made a full public apology and retracted the statements made in the aforementioned interview, admitting she had not heard the song in question before making the comments, but rather made the accusation after noticing a song of the same name on the track listing.[78] She said that Lavigne "is an accomplished songwriter and it has been my privilege to work with her".[76] Kreviazuk and Lavigne share the same manager under Nettwerk Management.
